In September, after we received preapproval from China to adopt Carli, we contacted a facilitator Ann in China to put a care package together for Carli and send it to her SWI. We sent a pillow with our pictures silk screened on it (how scary is that?), along with some clothes, a disposable camera, and candies for the orphanage workers. We also sent a letter, thanking them for taking such good care of Wan Wen Yu and asking if there was anything the SWI needed. We were informed they needed winter jammies. We used Ann again in China to facilitate getting 40 pairs of jammies to send to the SWI.
During Ann's follow-up on the packages, she called the SWI. They told her that Carli was beautiful, liked to play by herself and had "hip joint surgery". What? We were quite shocked. All the more reason to get there ASAP!!! A major surgery without her mommy and daddy?
