Currently, Carli resides in Wanzhou, ChongQing, PRC. ChongQing, the largest municipality of China, lies in the eastern part of Sichuan Basin, Southwest China. As an important traffic junction since ancient times, ChongQing borders HuBei (AnLi's birthplace) and Hunan Province to the east, Guizhou to the south, Sichuan to the west and Shaanxi to the north. Consisting of 15 districts, four county-level cities and 21 counties, ChongQing covers an area of 51,200 sq miles and has a population of over 30 million, most of which are of Han nationality. 49 other ethnic minorities, such as Tujia, Miao, Hui, Man, and Yi also live here, but retain their own traditional customs.
ChongQing is surrounded by many mountains such as Mt. Daba, Mt. Wu and Mt. Wuling. The Yangtze River, Jialing River as well as Wu River, Fu River, Daning River, also cross Chongqing. Thus, the city gains the name 'City of Mountains' and 'City of Rivers'.
The urban area of Wanzhou, located in the northern part of the district and on the upper reaches of the Three Gorges on the Yangtze River, is 142 miles away from downtown ChongQing. "Wanzhou" literally means "myriad-prefecture", where "a myriad rivers converge and a myriad traders gather". The population of the Wanzhou District was estimated at 1.68 million in 2001.
